Frequently Asked Questions About Pressure Washing

Q. Does pressure washing kill mold and algae?

A. Most mold and algae grow on your home’s roof or siding, which would require a special technique called soft washing. This technique is used for your home’s more delicate exterior surfaces. Don’t worry, though, soft washing cleans just as well as pressure washing, but with a low-pressure jettison of water and specialized chemical cleaners

Q. How often should I clean home’s exterior surfaces with pressure washing?

A. It’s ideal to have pressure washing at least twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall, but you can have a professional come out for pressure washing on an as-needed basis. It all depends on where you live, what the weather is like, or if you live surrounded by trees, or if your home is hit by direct sunlight, etc.

Q. What do I need to do to get my home ready for pressure washing?

A. The most important thing above all is to remove any obstacles that could make it difficult for the pressure washing professional to do their job.

A list of tasks to prepare your home would include:

  • Close all doors and windows, and secure them tightly
  • Move plants and other small decorative knick-knacks from the cleaning area
  • Switch off all outdoor electrical components
  • Move all vehicles from the driveway for easier access
